Braving Motherhood w/my 19 month old son Aiden and 7 month old daughter Keeley

I delivered the baby on Monday just before devil's
night! I didn't even tear! I'm so excited starting
this new life as a mom of two. Having some trouble
breast feeding but I'm determined this time. This is
the first time I've been on the computer since our
7lbs 9oz 19 1/2 inches long little girl, Keeley
Annette Glide, was born on Monday night 10/29/07. I am
already walking around just fine and am only cramping
a little... everything else is great... I even am
starting to feel rested already. My son Aiden's 1st
birthday party was yesterday and life goes on as it
has... just plus a little baby girl now. We all seem
to be adjusting quite nicely.

I am including some pictures of our new addition. I
can't attach too many because it will bounce back to
me otherwise. But I will be posting plenty more on my

We weren't able to film the birth due to my doctor
sending me to his preferred hospital to be induced. At
Oakwood they let you film but at Wyandotte they have
some stupid HIPPA thing about the baby having rights
during the birthing process and so we could only get
photos after the baby had already been delivered.

On Monday I was worried that the baby wasn't moving enough. I talked to the doctor and they wanted me to come in just like the on call doctor had said I should go into the hospital the night before. So to be on the safe side I went in for an NST. They said the baby was doing just fine but they wanted me to come in for an NST on Wednesday and they said Stevenson would possibly induce me that day. I asked if I should cancel my appointment for Tuesday and cathy told me I could keep the appointment for my own reassurance. I went to make the appointment for Wednesday and found out my Tuesday appointment was an NST and an ultrasound so I pretty much had to keep it.

10/23/07
I went to the Ob again Teusday. The ultrasound was short and to the point really. I did a video of it but it's not very good. It was first done by me and then lindsay took the camera to do the video cuz i couldn't see where I was angling the camera well enough. At this point the baby has gotten so big that it's actually more difficult to see the details and stuff. I did my NST and then we were on our way home again.

10/24/07
On Wednesday I went to my OB for an NST and appointment. I spiked with a few contractions on the NST but nothing regular enough. When I met with the doctor after he checked my cervix and I was still at 2cm and 50% effaced. He said everything seemed fine and he said from the ultrasound he could tell the baby had grown significantly and was no longer too small. So basically there was no more point for the NSTs because they had been doing them because the baby was on the small side. And he didn't even mention the possible induction. So I asked what happened to the idea of an induction. He said he didn't remember saying anything like that. He had to go look at my NST from the previous day. Then he came back in the room and said he remembered saying it now but didn't know why he said it! AHHHGGGG!!!! Then he said so yeah it doesn't look like that baby is coming today... in reference to the fact that my cervix hadn't changed.

10/25/07
Thursday I was at the hospital because I was unable to keep
anything down for 24 hours and they wanted to hydrate
me... which they never did because my urine sample
showed no signs of dehydration. They eventually gave
me a shot of something for nausea and vomiting... I am
finally able to eat!!! But now the stupid doctor at
the hospital thinks I'm depressed because they were
trying to say I was not eating or getting sick after
eating on purpose because I want the baby out. My
friend went with me and they actually told her that
I'm clinically depressed!! Truthfully I was just
ticked off at the doctors and the way they were
treating me and on top of being hormonal it made me
cry... makes sense right? So yeah... I had a rough day
and now my butt hurts from the shot but at least I can
eat now.

The doctor that thinks I'm depressed suggested
I talk to my doctor about a social induction.
As this doctor put it a social induction
is an induction for reasons other than
medical reasons... or something like
that... I think what he was hinting at though was that
the baby is putting too much stress on me and making
me depressed and that would be the reason... He just
couldn't admit that he was the one ticking me off so
much!

But yeah I think this baby is causing more stress
because we are supposed to move and if I go overdue
then I will end up staying here alone if my hubby gets
a job and has to go to Florida right away. That's
going to be horrible... I can't take being alone with
two kids at a constant that soon... It sounds bad but
I'm dilating and the baby is doing fine I just am not
progressing really fast and my contractions are not
regular enough to classify as active labor and I am
getting to a point where I am worried about stalling
and going overdue. Does this really sound that
horrible that I want to be induced?

Friday I planned to....
Have fun in the morning and at night with hubby to try
to induce labor:)
Other than that I plan to cancel my ridiculously
pointless NST and go to karaoke and try to get at
least second place in the contest again.

But I spent most of the day(4hours!) at the doctor's office. I had a change in my discharge from normal to thick yellow and gel-like with spots of dark brown blood and then once it was all the dark brown blood. The doctor did a pelvic exam and said I was still at 50% efface and somewhere between 2 and 3 cm dilated. She said the discharge and blood was probably from the rough exam the doctor gave me the day before. I talked to the nurse practitioner cathy about how I needed to talk to Dr. Stevenson about a social induction. She told me they can't even induce me until I'm 39 weeks and I was at 38 weeks and 2 days yesterday. She called my Dr. but he was in surgery all day so she was hoping he would call between surgeries and he didn't. I'm going in on Monday for an NST and to talk to my OB then if he decides not to induce me I'm refusing the NSTs and going in only the one time a week until I deliver or go overdue and get induced. I just might have to move to Florida before my 6 weeks postpartum is done.

I went home and waited for Tom to get home after the doctor's appointment. When he got home Lindsay and I went grocery shopping while Tom watched Aiden. First we went to the new Aldi's by Lindsay's house in Wayne and then we went to Kroger. So we have food in the house now. We took the groceries back to the apartment and shortly after went to karaoke.

10/27/07
On saturday Tom tried to go find crib hardware at Lowe's unsuccessfully. I said he should try aco but he decided to look online. He found the same site I originally had found only I couldn't figure out how to order the parts and he found out it was only by phone. So he called and left a message with our number and wrote down the parts we needed so when they called on monday I could tell them what we needed. The rest of the day was just a family day. Nothing big. Just watching Tv and hanging out together.

10/28/07
On Sunday Lindsay came over and she and I went to the mall. We walked around and I got a ms. fields raspberry smoothie and a turkey subway sandwich. We tried to go do a survey but they weren't doing them that day. We looked at the baby clothes at the children's place and the black dress shoes at payless in case the baby was a girl. Then later that night we went walking up to the gas station. I suddenly really had to go to the bathroom but the gas station on our side of the street didn't have a bathroom so we went across the street to the meijer gas station. Lindsay got her pickle there cuz they didn't have it at the other one and I went to the bathroom. I had a tiny streak of blood in my discharge that was bright red this time. I decided to just mention it to the doctor at my appointment the next morning.
